PURGE is all about getting rid of the unnecessary things in our life that hold us back and weigh us down.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1 NLT)
It is easy to bogged down with too much stuff in our life. Not just material items, though there is no shortage of that in this part of the world, but in every area of our life.
Each week, over the next four weeks, we are focusing on a different area of life. I am inviting you to be intentional about sorting through what needs to go and what needs to stay regarding health, material items, commitments, and the soul.
Purging is something that should be an ongoing practice. It can’t happen all at once, and since life doesn’t wait for us, it can take a much longer than we planned. But if you are deliberate, have some direction, go little by little, don’t quit, have some help and encouragement along the way, it will make the purging process so much more surmountable. I promise you will feel lighter and freer to run that race you are called to run!
I want to share with you a quote from a woman just like you and me, who captured perfectly the reasons we should purge.
I want my life, every aspect of my life, to be focused on God. I want to purge the clutter of my heart so that I may better serve him. I want to purge the clutter of my waistline so that I can have the energy and health to better serve him. I want to purge my home, my schedule, anything and everything that may be getting in the way of serving Him. I am His!
How has “life clutter” affected you?
